Electric Paint!

I recently got my hands on some 'Electric Paint', from a company called Bare Conductive. Basically, it allows you to build electronic circuits quickly, by using the surface of the paper (or any substrate), as the circuit board, and the paint becoming the wires. I've been noodling around with it to create different applications, from simple desktop lights, through to more complex sensing ideas. It's pretty cool stuff, and you can find out more about it here:

Amaze-balls

I've been at the drawing board again, thinking of some ideas that might be fun to make. Mazes are great, but not if you couldn't get out of one. That wouldn't be very good. So i thought i'd create a maze with an inbuilt message – exploring this thought. Can you see it?

Love a good pun?

Who doesn't love a good pun. My comedic repertoire is almost entirely based on the development and deployment of them. I find that people are generally predisposed to either liking them, or not. I have a friend who lives in Paris (though not for much longer), who readily engages with me in rapid-fire punslinging. I find it a healthy way to hone ones creative and linguistic abilities, providing a workout for both mind and stomach muscles. They also work very well as a visual communication, which I seem to devote a significant amount of time exploring.

Keep it clean

I bought some sticky vinyl the other day, perhaps before I'd even thought about what I was going to do with it. But after visiting a chum in Paris, and seeing a rather nice typographic installation on his shower wall (courtesy of an ex-girlfriend), I had an idea.I started thinking of how the little tiles could form a canvas of sorts for a vinyl image. It's pretty simple to do, even easier if the shower is turned off, and provides the viewer with an entertaining image whilst scrubbing ones sprouts. My favourite was the idea of a word search. So began 'Wash Your Mouth Out', perhaps inspired by the deliciously profane work of Modern Toss, I put together a 11x11 square arrangement of the filthiest words I could think of.

Man's best friend

Dogs are ace. As people may know from meeting me, there's a special place in my heart for our four-legged friends. I also love a good pun. So when I found this quote from Groucho Marx, I thought i'd put pen to paper and try and capture its daftness in visual form. Rendered in ink, then digitised, I refined the composition and set about preparing it for print. The result is a big, bright A2 image which sits proudly on my wall and makes me smile whenever I walk past it – so thanks for lending me your words GM. It's also available for purchase.
